Spring 2026
  • This course requires Edfinity, which we will use for online homework.  You will access Edfinity through your Canvas course.  You will be able to purchase Edfinity access directly though Edfinity's website or by purchasing an access code from the bookstore.  (Purchase through the bookstore will be more expensive than through Edfinity directly.)
  • Our text is Calculus: Early Transcendentals, 3rd edition, by Briggs, Cochran, Gillett, and Schulz.  Access to the text is recommended.  Options for access the text are below:
     
    • Option 1: Purchase the loose-leaf textbook from the Clemson University bookstore.

    • Option 2: Purchase access to the eText through Pearson+
    • Option 3: Access the textbook at the Cooper Library.  Details below:
      • Clemson Libraries has copies of the class textbook.  The books can be checked out at the Libraries main circulation desk, and students can check them out for 1 day at a time and can renew them if no one else has a hold on the books. Students can also check on the status of the book by going to Check Status
      • The Libraries also has copies of textbooks for many other courses for you to check out through its Textbook Lending Program, and it encourages you to examine the works available.
  • Common Course Syllabus: See your Canvas course.  The syllabus is now integrated with Canvas.

 Your instructor will include information specific to your section within the common course syllabus.

  • Supplemental resource: you can see video lectures and notes by self-enrolling in the Canvas course Math 1080 Video Lectures.

Math 1080 Pre-Requisite Skills Review Sessions

Review sessions on pre-requisite skills for Math 1080 will be held by Math 1080 TAs.  There will be multiple sessions on each topic (with each session covering the same material). Sessions will follow the review packets on these topics posted in Canvas.

Math 1080 Drop-In Help Available in the Math Help Lab

  • Drop-in help for Math 1080 is available in the evenings in the Math Help Lab (Martin M-1).   
  • Math Help Lab will start on Tuesday, Jan. 20 and run throughout the semester (except on school holidays) until the last day of classes.  Math 1080 TAs are available to answer questions in the help lab.

Note on Exam Format: 
  • Exams are in-person on campus (see room locations below).  
  • Exams will be done on paper and will include a multiple choice section and free response section.
    • Multiple choice questions will be answered on a bubble sheet which will be uploaded to Gradescope for grading.
    • Free response questions will be graded in Gradescope.  Once grading is complete for each exam, you can see your exam feedback in Gradescope.  (See Gradescope's help page on Viewing Feedback if you have any questions on how to see your feedback.)

Final Exam (Monday, April 27 from 11:30 am - 2:00 pm Eastern Time)
  • About the Final Exam:
    • Multiple choice: 36%; Free Response: 64%
    • 13 multiple choice questions and 12 free response questions
    • Breakdown of material: About 15% of the points are on Chapter 12 material, with the remaining 85% divided approximately evenly over the material from Chapters 6, 8, 10, and 11
  • Math-In: Saturday, April 25 (10 am - 5 pm in Martin Hall classrooms).  The Math-In is an all-day, on-demand tutoring session to help students prepare for their final exams.

Previous Exams

The order in which the curriculum is taught and tested varies from semester to semester. Do not assume that the content of one of the previous exams is exactly the content of your corresponding unit exam.
